North America - Which Is Your Ideal Country ?

Washington for Memorable Journeys

Where Would You Like To Visit ?

North America is an odd combination of former British and Spanish colonies with a few Dutch and French ones thrown in for good measure

Below we make a brief summary of each country or region which will link to more detailed pages on the country and its destinations.

Visit Canada

Still in the British Commonwealth, Canada still has a lot in common with the UK.  For us the highlights are:

  • Far from its British beginnings, Toronto is now one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, as well as the place to visit the Niagara Falls
  • Montréal is the largest city in Canada's Québec province. Visit Old Town Montreal with the Gothic Revival Notre-Dame Basilica and bohemian Plateau.
  • Visit the huge state of Alberta to see Calgary, Banff National Park, jasper National Park and Boat Cruise on Maligne Lake
  • Vancouver, on the west coast in British Columbia to enjoy Prince of Whales Whale Watching, the huge Stanley Park and Granville Island

New York with

The USA, what can you say about the most powerful country in the world with so many attractions? We like:

  • The Triangle of non-stop New York City, Washington with the White House and Museums and historic Boston
  • New Orleans. Until we went there, we thought it was about jazz and creole cooking. Party city of the States
  • Florida driving from Orlando with its pleasure parks to the natural Florida Keys via Miami
  • Pacific Coast Drive from Seattle, through San Francisco to Los Angeles and end up in Las Vegas for a rest!

The destination with history, culture great food, Tequila, beaches and great cities. Mexico is the ideal holiday country:

  • Tour of the Mayan Ruins, Its not all about Chicken Itza. Palenque, Monte Alban Uxmal are all as equally interesting
  • Mexico City. There are so many things to do here. Museo Nacional de Antropología, Teotihuacán, Zócalo (Plaza de la Constitucion)
  • Visit the Caribbean coast if you like designer hotels, fantastic beaches, gourmet food and all-inclusive resorts
  • Visit the Pacific Coast if you like a touch of the 1950 and 60s. Also, If You Like Tequila, Spas and Golf

The Caribbean

We like to think of the Caribbean Islands in two parts. Islands to stay on and islands to cruise to. Here are our ideas:
